First Aid Training

All courses are offered on the basis of 12 students attending, and in defibrillation and medical gases to 6 students or less

All courses are also inclusive of student manuals, handouts, exam (where appropriate), certification , all consumables items (bandages, faceshields, gloves etc but not Entonox gas and equipment) and use of all training aids.

Courses

First aid at work – Initial Courses (3 Days)

This course covers the practical skills needed by first aider’s in the workplace and will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. This course is intended for nominated workplace first aiders, or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid. The course takes place over three consecutive days, although we also offer it as a split course over and agreed period by negotiation. After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive an HSE approved certificate valid for three years.

First Aid at work - re-qualification course (2 Days)

This course updates the first aid skills for people who need to renew their statutory first aid at work certificate and whose existing certificate is still valid (within 28 days of its expiry date at the start of the course) the course aims to update and refresh your knowledge of the first aid at work syllabus, while allowing time for revision and practice sessions in preparations for a final assessment. Successful candidates receive the full HSE approved First aid at work certificate valid for three years after completing a practical skills test.

Emergency First Aid at work (1 Day)

This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks and is intended for nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone wanting an introduction to first aid. You will learn basic life saving first aid knowledge and skills and with this course there is no formal exams, only continuous assessment throughout the day by the trainer.

Paediatric first Aid (2 Days)

This course meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework and focuses on child and infant first aid emergencies faced by persons – professionals as well as family members – looking after young children. It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education. The course duraton is 12 hours, usually split into two six hour days. Certification is gained by continuous assessment by the trainer. A skills-based final assessment will shortly be available to students working towards a Child minding NVQ.

Defibrillation & CPR (Four hours)

This course teaches how to safely and effectively use an Automatic Defibrillator in conjunction with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, although no previous first aid knowledge is necessary to attend this course! This course is suitable for any`one interested in furthering their emergency first aid skills, or takes part in an organised first aid scheme. For health care workers, this course serves as a basic module Certification is gained by continuous assessment by the trainer.

Medical Gases (4 Hours)

This course teaches a comprehensive range of skills in the administration of oxygen and also analgesic gas and is particularly suited to works in the care sector, especially in hospices.The course covers the equipment and gases which can assist with resuscitation and palliative care and also enhanced general first aid.

First Aid in Medically Deficient Environments (4 Hours)

This course was devised for and successfully received by the journalists of a national newspaper who were to work in war zones and isolated areas where access to medical treatment was scarce and would be delayed. As such it is also suitable for all persons who intend to work or travel in such environments.
